Mental Health Study Tour Delegation to Palestine
March 29th – April 5th 2020
The UK-Palestine Mental Health Network presents an opportunity for professionals working within the fields of mental health and social work to explore the complex interface between politics and psychological well-being in the particular circumstances of Palestine/Israel.
With an intensive 8-day programme, you will learn about:
- The mental health impact of occupation on everyday life
- Trauma within families and how it affects women, men and children
- Violence against children, including imprisonment and inter-generational trauma
- Perspectives on the mental health crisis from Palestinian and Israeli professional colleagues
The tour provides excellent access to clinicians, academics, community groups and political analysts. It will be facilitated by a small UK company with twenty years’ experience providing alternative tours to the Occupied Palestine Territory (OPT) and Israel. Hotels will be located in Bethlehem and Nazareth with visits to Jerusalem, Hebron, Ramallah, Nablus, the Jordan Valley, Jaffa/Tel Aviv, and Haifa. Travel will be in a private comfortable coach with an expert local driver from a licensed bus company.
Those wishing to extend their stay at either end of the tour for further exploration will receive expert advice and support.
“This tour has been life changing for me, it has been a truly deep experience, I feel privileged and enriched. I feel I have witnessed fellow human beings at their worst, but also at their best. Both content and itinerary were excellent. I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to meet our hosts to visit the various centres in Israel and Palestine. I have learnt a great deal. Information sharing and support throughout the tour was more than I had expected.”
