It exposes another invisible wound – one that silently devours the souls of people, threatening both their present and their future. The report provides a comprehensive analysis of the deteriorating mental health crisis in the Gaza Strip amid the ongoing genocide since October 2023, which has inflicted devastating psychological consequences on the population, affecting children, women, the elderly, persons with disabilities, the displaced, frontline workers, and survivors of detention and torture. […] A summary of the new report is available on the GCMHP Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/gcmhptested Full report: https://drive.google.com/file/d/15o5Zv_yJ9XIH8HNV_UF4BloCIU5TGVEK/view Open letter of concern and call for immediate action Source: The collective of Palestine Mental Health Networks Date: October 2025 The Open Letter is open for signature by individuals. The collective of Palestine Mental Health Networks (which includes UK-Palestine MHN) has issued an open letter to the New Center for Psychoanalysis (NCP) and the American Psychoanalytic Association (ApsaA) regarding an event that is taking place on Tuesday 14 October. This is a closed Program Case Conference that is apparently part of the Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic training program (CAPT). The event features Dr. Gabriela Mann’s clinical work which centers Israeli soldiers and civilians in rich detail while reducing Palestinian lives to statistics and vague references during an ongoing genocide. This is a profound ethical failure. Dr. Mann’s work dehumanizes Palestinians, uses passive language that erases Israeli responsibility, and treats those actively perpetrating genocide, helping restore them to continue their violence. The letter calls for the cancellation of the 14 October talk and the setting up of an event platforming Palestinian clinicians. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScdyRFyfax64B5wrvc_z0x3iUwgRQuoKhO8RlFWxulXcRc37g/viewform The complete collapse of childhood in Gaza Source: Analyst News Date: 6 October An interview with Teresa Bailey who is a member of the UK-Palestine Mental Health Network Steering Group. Psychotherapist Teresa Bailey describes Gaza as a place where every child now needs trauma care, with babies dying in incubators and play transformed into war games. She explains that constant bombardment has created “continuous traumatic stress,” rewiring children’s brains, destroying the sense of safety that parents normally provide, and erasing the ordinary structures of childhood through displacement, hunger, and the loss of school and play. https://www.analystnews.org/posts/the-complete-collapse-of-childhood-in-gaza Silence speaks when language fails: The loss of words in Gaza Source: Taqwa Ahmed Al-Wawi writing in The Nation Date: 1 October Palestinian writer Taqwa Ahmed Al-Wawi describes how relentless trauma in Gaza has eroded people’s capacity to speak, turning silence itself into a language of survival. She links this loss of speech to neurological and emotional numbing caused by genocide, where words like “home,” “hope,” and “friend” have lost meaning, leaving survivors to communicate through gestures, art, and shared quiet as acts of resistance and endurance. https://www.analystnews.org/posts/silence-speaks-when-language-fails-the-loss-of-words-in-gaza How Do We Even Talk about Palestine and Israel?: One group’s experience in unspoken territory Publisher: TWiG (August 2025) ISBN 13 : 9781036924119 A group of psychiatrists and psychotherapists met regularly using Tavistock group methods to examine the challenges involved in discussing the Israel–Palestine conflict. Their meetings focused on exploring questions rather than providing answers, with attention to each participant’s personal and historical perspectives. The group process included structured reflections, discussions, and the use of essays and writings to document their interactions. The approach emphasized analysis of the dynamics arising within the group as a model for thoughtful engagement with complex topics. https://www.karnacbooks.com/product/how-do-we-even-talk-about-palestine-and-israel-one-group/98411/ Impact of the October 7 Gaza war on post-traumatic stress symptoms and quality of life in Palestinian nursing Source: Nature, Scientific Reports volume 15, Article number: 34575 (open access) Date: 3 October The Gaza War has had a marked psychological impact on nurses in the West Bank, particularly for those exposed to checkpoint violence. Targeted, trauma-informed mental health interventions, resilience training, and systemic reforms to improve safety and working conditions are urgently needed to protect and support the nursing workforce in conflict settings. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-025-18039-1 Jewish Bloc Statement on Manchester killings and its aftermath Source: Jewish Voice for Labour (JVL) Date: 3 October JVL Introduction: The Jewish Bloc has issued this statement expressing their sorrow at the killings and their condolences for the families of the victims killed or injured in the attack on the Manchester synagogue. There is a welcome for the support from the local community, including many Muslim people and organisations and also anger at the weaponisation of our grief by arguing that those who stand for justice for Palestinians are a danger to Jews. This is divisive and dangerous. Let the community mourn, let the connections across communities in Manchester be strengthened and not weakened. https://www.jewishvoiceforlabour.org.uk/article/jewish-bloc-statement-on-manchester-killings-and-its-aftermath/ FEATURED ACTIONS You can see a list of all current actions on this page: https://ukpalmhn.com/gaza-crisis/ Great Ride of Return: Cycling for freedom Source: Gaza Sunbirds Date: Saturday 11 – Sunday 12 October: The next global mobilisation. The report, Party to Genocide, assesses the Starmer administration’s record against a policy framework BPC set out for the incoming government in November 2024.
