Therapy for Palestine UK:
Therapy for Palestine UK is a growing network of clinicians offering pro bono, traumainformed therapy for Palestinians in the UK. We provide safe, affirming, and culturally grounded support, recognising that Palestinian trauma stems from war, genocide, displacement, and decades of oppression and denial of statehood. Our service is open to all Palestinians living in the UK, and we extend our welcome to all the students recently arrived from Gaza. […]
Letter to EMDR Board July 2025
An opinion piece accompanying the Letter to the EMDR Board can be found at the bottom of this page.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a trauma therapy developed for PTSD, now used more widely. EMDR Association members include professionals from psychotherapy, psychology, nursing, social work, occupational therapy and psychiatry.
The EMDR Therapists for Palestine group began as a collegial space to share resources and events, and has grown into a supportive community advocating for ethical accountability within our profession. We are deeply concerned by the silence of many healthcare bodies- including our own- on the dehumanisation, occupation, and unfolding genocide in Gaza.
Being part of a solidarity network within EMDR UK has brought relief to many. As trauma therapists, a community with like-minded colleagues has provided strength, comfort, and renewed purpose amidst the grief over the atrocities in Palestine. With over 35 members in our WhatsApp group and 80 signatories, the group continues to grow as a space for support and resource sharing. We warmly welcome EMDR therapists to join our WhatsApp group:

Kindly introduce yourself and your registering body upon joining. Signing the letter is not a requirement- we also welcome those who wish to remain private while standing in solidarity. We hope our work inspires other mental health professionals to advocate within their own organisations. Our statement may serve as a template for adaptation across professional contexts.

Why Gaza is EMDR, and matters to all of us
This is a long-form opinion piece from September 2025 that is intended to accompany the open letter signed by 80 members of EMDR Association UK urging the Executive Board to condemn the ongoing atrocities in Gaza, especially the devastating impact on children. This letter was sent on July 3rd resulting in the Board producing its own statement that missed many of our crucial concerns. Our letter was the prompt for our own EMDR page
on the UK Palestine Mental Health Network. This opinion piece is intended to explore why Gaza is EMDR and how it’s impacting so many clients right now, not just those in Jewish, Muslim & Christian communities connected to the region but those of us watching genocide unfold before our eyes.
