The full report of the PVP conference Living Through the Unimaginable: Witnessing and Responding to the Genocide in Gaza now available
This one-day conference brought together mental-health professionals and Palestinian colleagues to examine the realities of ongoing genocide, the collapse of services in Gaza, and the ethical challenges facing practitioners. The report summarises key themes from each section of the event, including the impact of colonisation on mental health, the limits of therapeutic work under conditions of mass violence, the silencing occurring within UK institutions, and the collective responsibilities of our professions.

PVP is now seeking to build dialogue with other UK mental health professionals, exploring how the sector can develop a united, principled response to genocide and human rights violations.
Psychoanalytic Voices for Palestine Update June 2025
The dialogue with other mental health professionals could take inspiration from the work/approach of Doctors against Genocide (DAG) in emphasising our duty as mental health workers to act to prevent genocide and crimes against humanity, in promoting a health perspective on the definition and impact of genocide, and on developing mechanisms by which we might be enabled to speak out. We would wish to give voice to Palestinian perspectives, to counter dehumanisation and promote inclusivity. Here are links to DAG resources that could provide useful templates.
