EVENTS AND TRIPS

Event:

The USA-Palestine Mental Health Network is hosting a special forum for mental health workers, “Voices on Palestine,” in New York City on Friday, June 15th, 2018, from 11:30 AM until 2:00 PM. Coffee and light snacks will be served. A roomy and useful cloth tote-bag bearing the USA-Palestine Mental Health Network logo will be available for purchase at the forum at a cost of $20, for those who wish to show their support for Palestine in that way. Participation in the forum itself is free of charge.
This event will be held in the York Suite on the second floor of the Roosevelt Hotel at 45 East 45th Street, New York, NY.
Our forum will be held on a day that falls during the four-day annual conference of the International Association of Relational Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy (IARPP), an organization which is also holding its meeting in the Roosevelt Hotel. We have scheduled our event so that it does not conflict with a speaker at the IARPP conference and located our event in the same hotel in order to maximize participation in the forum by IARPP conference goers. The Board of IARPP and all interested participants at the IARPP conference have been invited to the forum.
The “Voices on Palestine” event was developed as a means of extending the conversation with and among the members of IARPP on the subject of Palestine–a conversation which began in December 2017 when the Steering Committee of the USA-Pal MHN sent a letter to the members of the Board of IARPP requesting that it reconsider its decision to hold its 2019 annual meeting in Israel. The refusal of the IARPP Board to reconsider this decision, the petition protesting this refusal, and subsequent events, publications, and documents are available elsewhere in our website as Recent Posts.
The forum “Voices on Palestine” will involve short presentations and group discussion.
All mental health clinicians are invited to attend “Voices on Palestine,” but kindly RSVP by June 1st to uspalmhn@gmail.com so that we can plan adequately. Please contact us through that email address with any questions.
(Please note that it is not necessary to register for the IARPP conference in order to attend our special forum, “Voices on Palestine.” However, in order to attend the four-day IARPP conference, one must register through applying to the IARPP organization itself, which is entirely separate from the USA-Palestine Mental Health Network).
